Latest Updates from Our Project:

Final 48 hours
over 2 years ago – Fri, Sep 24, 2021 at 03:10:56 AM

Hi everyone. This is a quick update to let you know we are now in the final 48 hours of this project. Yesterday we have sent the files for the cards to the printer, so that they will be ready in time. Currently, we are finalizing the files for the boxes themselves. Here is an impression of what the box for Alien Getaway will look like:

As you can see the names of the backers have found their way into the design.

Next week we'll try and launch the pledge manager (which will be BackerKit) to allow you to specify shipping details (particularly whether or not you would like to collect your pledge at SPIEL or not). There will also be options to add extra copies and other goodies.

And finally, for those interested in really big games: the Kickstarter campaign for Eastern Empires went live yesterday. Michiel helped prepare the campaign and he personally recommends you to take a look at this intriguing behemoth of a game!

Last 12 hours of our campaign. Help us tell people!
over 2 years ago – Fri, Sep 24, 2021 at 02:58:09 AM

Hi! This will likely be our last update before the end of the campaign. Tonight (Dutch time) the campaign will end. That's about 12 hours from now. We'd like to make sure everyone who wants to back, knows about the project. Which is why we'd like to ask you to consider a final shoutout. We're grateful for your support and don't like asking you for help, but in this case our mind is on the greater good: not leaving people out.

So, if you want to help, please consider resharing one of our posts on social media, for instance these:

Last 12 hours on our campaign. Please help us spread the word, so nobody will be left out!

In the meantime we are finalizing the box design and will send them to the printer this afternoon. After that, we will start work on finalizing the rules and opening the BackerKit pledge manager as soon as possible, so you will have enough time to indicate whether or not you'd like to collect your game on SPIEL. Things are tight, but we are still 100% on schedule!

To show you some of the things going on behind the scenes, we have some videos of the master mold maker at work. Quite fascinating to see how these miniatures come to life from this big blob of silicone.

And here the first test-copies are pulled from the mold:

We'll be sharing some more production videos later on. See you later!

Painting the Pewter Heroes!
over 2 years ago – Tue, Sep 21, 2021 at 04:04:24 PM

Only a couple of days left to back this gaming trilogy! As you all know, one of the highlights of this trilogy are the masterfully crafted and cast, high detail, pewter miniatures. Some people have expressed their interest in painting these miniatures once they receive their pledges or pick up  one of the limited copies at Spiel 2021 held in Essen, Germany or at Spellenspektakel in Utrecht, the Netherlands.

I am Daniel and Michiel and I are the authors of Victory Tank. I am also an amateur miniature painter and have taken up the challenge to be the first person to paint the miniatures, as you can check out for yourself below:

Zoid is the clumsy alien that left a planet destroyed and is in the midst of his escapade during Alien Getaway.

This Victory Tank is inspired by the Renault FT, the tank that influenced the tides of war during World War 1. This specific tank has gone rogue in this game of the same name.

Last but not least: the eponymous cheeky mole of Mole Control is the menace that players are trying to keep from destroying their gardens.

You only have a couple of days left to back the games in this short Kickstarter campaign. Go out and tell your friends as well and be ready to receive your games soon or pick up at Spiel 2021 held in Essen, Germany or at Spellenspektakel in Utrecht, the Netherlands!

Updated artwork for Victory Tank
over 2 years ago – Sat, Sep 18, 2021 at 12:45:47 PM

The artwork we've shown you for Victory Tank so far has been preliminary only. In the background we were working (and still are) on finalizing the designs for the cards. Today we can show you the new designs for the battlefield cards. As you can see there are a number of different cards: bunkers, bases, supply crates and reinforcements. Later on we'll show you the new design for the power cards. In the meantime, please tell your friends about our little campaign!

Updated artwork for Alien Getaway + What cards are in this game?
over 2 years ago – Thu, Sep 16, 2021 at 10:33:11 AM

Today was a good day for our campaign. Some more people found their way to our little project and we'd like them to feel very welcome. Also, we had time to work on the design of the Alien Getaway cards some more. The designs we showed you so far were not complete: illustrator Miša Jovanovic actually drew a lot of details that we hadn't incorporated in the cards yet. But no more!

Let us show you the new look of the cards. First, a render of a game at play:

You can see there are all sorts of cards in this game. Let us get into that:

  • First, there are the 4 start cards. These together form the exploding planet. At the start of the game, there are just these 4 cards on the table, with Zoid on card number 4, ready to escape.
  • Then there are 42 asteroid field cards. Each of these cards is sprinkled with asteroids and other debris Zoid will have to try and avoid. The cards show a blue trajectory through the field.
  • And finally there are 9 planet cards. These planet cards cannot be used to guide Zoid through the asteroid field, but are rather used to get rid of some of the penalty points obtained while guiding Zoid.

In Alien Getaway, when it's your turn you'll first draw 2 cards and then either pass or play a number of asteroid cards. You can play any number you like, as long as they match in number or crystal. When you lay these cards on the table, you extend the trail without overlapping any of the previous cards. For every card you added, you'll roll the 4 dice. The number on the card indicates at which speed Zoid will fly. If you cause Zoid to fly beyond the safe trail, you'll get penalty cards.

There are two ways to get rid of these penalty points again: by combining penalty cards with the same number or crystal, or by playing a planet card from your hand at the end of your turn that matches in number or crystal.

At the end of the game, whoever has the least penalty points wins. It's not easy to avoid penalty points and the cards you hold in your hand at the end of the game actually count as penalty points as well. Quite a challenge!
